In today’s market, re-casting components is not financially viable. HIP’ing may be used to recover castings with microporosity and voids.

 
 
 
HIP achieves zero porosity in PM parts and leads to enhanced mechanical properties, cost reductions and enhanced design possibilities.

 
 
 
Casting Repair and Correction
Many casting businesses use an expensive non-destructive testing process which scans casts for faults. If faults are found HIP treatment is required.  This option is especially sensible when the casting is of high value or when the casting is complex and time consuming to reproduce.

As a rule of thumb, if a part costs more than £150 ex-works, then all parts should be HIPed.

When porosity is found in a key set of valuable castings, and densification is needed, urgency is of the essence when procuring an excellent HIPing firm. We offer a 24 hour turn-around service (though this is subject to availability) on a daily basis, and our vehicles can collect and return your castings urgently and conveniently.
